Drive-A-Thon a Success!
Cleveland High School was invited by Don Ledford Automotive Center in Cleveland, TN to participate in a challenge. If we were able to get 500 people to test drive a car on November 4th, Don Ledford Automotive would donate $10,000 to Cleveland High School's Athletic department.
Don Ledford's all over the nation have offered this opportunity to 30 schools in the nation, and of the 30 schools who participated, only four have been able to achieve the goal of 500 drivers. Those four schools have all been located in larger cities, where demographics and population have made it much easier to attain.
Yesterday, Cleveland High School became the 5th school in the nation to achieve this goal! We had members of our commnity come out to support us! Of the 500 drivers was none other than: Mayor Tom Rowland, Steve Hartline and MANY FRIENDS, all of our Cleveland City Schools Administrators. Dr. Martin Ringstaff, Congressman Mike Bell, Representive Kevein Brooks, Sherry Crye of the Chamber of Commerce, and all members of Cleveland City Schools Board of Education.

On behalf of our Athletic Department:
"Thank you all so much. CHS is an incredible high school, and one of the main reasons is that we really stick together. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you guys came out and drove yesterday, encouraged your family and friends to come out, and were out their encouraging us.
So far in the USA, 30 schools have partnered with GMC-Buick for the Drive-a-thon, and we are only the 5th school ever to reach the goal of obtaining 500 drivers. This is such a tribute to our school community, and I want to personally thank you all for helping us achieve our goal."
Sincerely,
Eric Phillips
Director of Athletics
